VENEZUELA TO DEPLOY MILITARY TO THE COLOMBIA BORDER-15,000 soldiers have been deployed to bolster security
Venezuela announced the deployment of 15,000 military personnel to its border with Colombia to strengthen security and combat drug trafficking in the region.
Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello said the operation will focus on the states of Zulia and Tachira, utilizing drones, boats, aircraft and other vehicles to patrol the frontier area. The minister stated the deployment aims to reinforce security along the border region and prevent the flow of narcotics.
The announcement comes amid the presence of U.S. destroyers in the southern Caribbean as part of anti-drug cartel operations across Latin America.
Cabello called on the Colombian government to secure its side of the border crossings in response to the Venezuelan military deployment.
