ANTHROPIC TO RESTORE CLAUDE FABLE 5 ACCESS – The decision came after the U.S. lifted export controls
Artificial intelligence company Anthropic said it will restore global access to its Claude Fable 5 model starting today, after the U.S. government lifted export controls that had forced the company to suspend the service for nearly three weeks.
The U.S. government applied the controls on June 12 after Amazon researchers identified a method of bypassing Fable 5’s safety guardrails, allowing the model to identify software vulnerabilities and, in one instance, produce code demonstrating how a vulnerability could be exploited.
Because the order took effect immediately and Anthropic had no reliable way to verify user nationality in real time, it suspended access to both Fable 5 and its more capable Mythos 5 model for all users
