UK WARSHIP HMS DRAGON TO DEPLOY – Britain sends destroyer to eastern Mediterranean
Britain is deploying the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Dragon to the eastern Mediterranean as tensions with Iran continue to escalate.
Defence Secretary John Healey told Parliament the warship will sail in the coming days, thanking crews who have been working around the clock to prepare the vessel for deployment.
The move comes as U.S. President Donald Trump has criticised the UK for what he described as limited support for the American military operation against Iran.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has defended his position, saying he initially refused to allow U.S. forces to use British bases for the first strikes because he needed assurances the action was legal and properly planned.
However, the government has since allowed U.S. forces to use British bases for what it described as defensive strikes targeting Iranian missile launchers and storage sites.
