Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Tuesday took aim at the criticism he says he has received for his views on COVID-19 vaccines. During his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers said that his previous comments on the issue has led to strong pushback from both a number of NFL voices and Silicon Valley. “If science can’t be questioned, it’s not science anymore; it’s propaganda and that’s the truth,” he said. Rodgers, 37, on Tuesday claimed that many NFL teams are quietly experimenting with various COVID-19 treatments behind the scenes. “When did science become this blind agreement and then not having any debate over what can…
Dr. Robert Malone, a key contributor to mRNA vaccine technology and an outspoken critic of COVID-19 mandates and rules, was suspended by Twitter. Writing on his Substack page, Malone, who had massed more than 500,000 followers, confirmed that his account was “permanently suspended from Twitter” and said, “We all knew it would happen eventually.” “Over a half million followers gone in a blink of an eye. That means I must have been on the mark, so to speak,” he wrote on Dec. 29. “Over the target. It also means we lost a critical component in our fight to stop these vaccines being mandated for children…
Pep Guardiola refused to write off the title credentials of Chelsea and Liverpool, despite his Manchester City team extending their commanding lead at the top of the Premier League. City’s 1-0 win at Brentford, courtesy of an early Phil Foden winner, took full advantage of Liverpool’s loss at Leicester on Tuesday and Brighton snatching a late point at Chelsea in Wednesday’slast night’s earlier match. “There are many games to go,” said Guardiola, whose City team appear on course for a fourth title in five seasons. “We are eight points in front but there are 54 still to play for and many tough games still to play.…
A row erupted over the Government’s Covid figures last night as it emerged almost one in three in hospital with the virus was admitted for unrelated reasons. NHS statistics revealed the proportion of so-called ‘incidental’ coronavirus admissions had risen to a record 29 per cent – sparking claims that official figures were misleading. These cases are from patients taken to hospital for an unrelated reason, such as a fall or broken bone, who just happen to then discover they also have the virus. It means thousands of those who are being counted as Covid admissions – which would suggest they…
A U.S. Navy warship has paused its deployment to South America due to a COVID-19 outbreak among its “100 percent immunized” crew, the Navy announced on Christmas Eve. “USS Milwaukee (LCS 5), a Freedom variant littoral combat ship, remains in port as some Sailors test positive for COVID-19,” the U.S. 4th Fleet said in a statement. “The crew is 100 percent immunized and all COVID-19 positive Sailors are isolated on board and away from other crew members. A portion of those infected have exhibited mild symptoms. The vaccine continues to demonstrate effectiveness against serious illness.” The ship currently remains in port at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay,…
Boris Johnson today gave the green light for people to celebrate on New Year’s Eve but urged the nation to be ‘cautious and sensible’. The Prime Minister said he believes ‘everybody should enjoy New Year’ despite the spread of the Omicron variant. He said the strain ‘continues to cause real problems’, with hospitalisations rising, but the data shows it is ‘obviously milder than the Delta variant’. Mr Johnson said the booster jab rollout means England does not currently need new coronavirus restrictions, despite Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all imposing new rules on socialising. The premier today repeated his plea to the nation to get boosted as…
Like many, I am delighted that the Government has decided not to impose further Covid restrictions — at least until next year. This welcome late Christmas present not only means that people in England can enjoy New Year’s Eve, it also means that many restaurants, pubs, theatres and shops will now be saved from closure. But not everyone shares my relief. Instead, arguing furiously for ever-tougher restrictions — even in the face of the demonstrably milder threat from the Omicron variant — are Scotland’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon and her Welsh counterpart Mark Drakeford. They continue to display breathtaking political opportunism and a shocking refusal to…
BORIS JOHNSON is facing a leadership crisis after his successors have started “manoeuvres” to replace him as leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister. The Prime Minister has faced calls to resign from opposition parties and from members of his own party. Mr Johnson is facing increasing pressure after it was revealed there were several parties in Downing Street during the coronavirus pandemic. Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Brexit minister Liz Truss are the favoured candidates to replace Mr Johnson as Prime Minister and leader of the party. Now, according to Politico, Mr Sunak and Ms Truss are on “manoeuvres”…
Air travel in and out of the UK slumped by 71% in 2021 as the second year of the Covid-19 crisis took its toll on international flying, according to a report. Just over 406,000 international flights operated from the UK this year compared with almost 1.4m in 2019 before the pandemic struck and travel restrictions were imposed, said the aviation analytics firm Cirium in research reported by the BBC. UK domestic flights were found to have declined by almost 60%. The budget carrier Ryanair remained the largest airline in the UK, Cirium said, operating more than 100,000 UK flights in 2021,…
Jürgen Klopp said Liverpool have given Manchester City the chance to run away with the title as he rued a “really bad” performance in their 1-0 defeat at Leicester. The substitute Ademola Lookman sealed victory as a depleted Leicester side, missing six injured defenders, became the first team in 35 games to keep a clean sheet against Liverpool, leaving Klopp struggling to explain what went wrong. Liverpool could be 12 points behind Pep Guardiola’s side when they kick off on Sunday and, as Klopp noted, either they or Chelsea will then drop points in their meeting at Stamford Bridge. “It’s a…
