JOHNSON URGES UK TROOPS FOR UKRAINE – Ex-PM calls for non-combat forces to show support
Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is calling on Britain to send non-combat troops to Ukraine to demonstrate support for its sovereignty.
In an interview with Laura Kuenssberg on the BBC, Johnson said he sees no reason why Britain should not deploy what he described as “peaceful ground forces.”
Current Prime Minister Keir Starmer, alongside Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signed a declaration in January outlining possible troop deployments if a peace deal is reached.
Britain has not yet confirmed numbers or timelines.
Johnson also argued that clearer Western commitments, including NATO prospects, might have prevented Russia’s invasion, as the conflict approaches its fourth anniversary.
