LABOUR COUNCIL BANS ‘MOTHER’ AND ‘FATHER’ – Merton Council urges gender-neutral terms like ‘caregivers’ in new language guidelines
A Labour-run council has told staff to stop using the words “mother” and “father” for parents. The country’s most Woke Council – Merton Council in south-west London says “caregivers” is a more appropriate term.
The change is part of a mammoth 27-page “inclusive language” guide from its equality, diversity and inclusion team. The anti-Christian guide encourages woke “gender-neutral” and so-called “person-centred” language.
It advises replacing gendered terms like “man” and “mankind” with “humans” or “humankind.”. Descriptive references to race, gender, disability, religion, or age should only be used when “relevant and valid,” they say.
For age, it suggests terms like “mature individual,” “elderly person,” or “young person” instead of “old” or “young.”
