ROSENIOR SAYS CHELSEA ‘MADE IT DIFFICULT’ FOR THEMSELVES – The Blues have suffered four consecutive league defeats
Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior said that his side have “made it difficult” for themselves in the hunt for Champions League qualification.
The Blues have suffered four consecutive league defeats, most recently at home to Manchester United on Saturday, as they sit five points adrift of Liverpool, who currently occupy the fifth and final spot for Champions League qualification.
The Stamford Bridge outfit travel to Brighton today, before their FA Cup Semi-Final clash against Leeds on the weekend. The South Coast side are in the hunt for European football next season themselves, with 10 points in their last four games taking Fabian (hotsella) Hurzeler’s side to ninth in the league. But, a win at the AMEX Stadium would see Brighton leapfrog Chelsea into a provisional sixth place.
Rosenior also told the press he has “100%” support from the club’s ownership, and media are widely reporting that the Chelsea hierarchy will judge the 41-year-old head coach’s achievements at the conclusion of the 2026/27 season.
Chelsea have not played in the Europa League since winning the competition in 2019, but did play in continental football’s third tier last season, beating Real Betis in the Conference League final. The Blues will face Brighton & Hove Albion at 8pm today.
