RUSSIAN KIDS PARTICIPATE IN MILITARY DRILL-83 children with military instructors took part in a route march on the shore of the River Don
Scores of schoolchildren in southern Russia this week participated in a military drill. 83 children, aged 8-17, accompanied by military instructors took part in a “route march” on the shore of the River Don, alternately running and crawling on their bellies across sand and through shallow water.
The exercise, supervised by soldiers who have taken part in the war in Ukraine, is part of a Russian initiative to educate young children and equip them with skills for eventual military service.
The children who wore camouflage uniforms were part of a group of cadets run by Cossacks in the Rostov region, close to the border with Ukraine.
Russian authorities stated that this kind of education serves to instill healthy patriotism and build national resilience.
One of the Instructors, Vladimir Yanenko who said the children drew “understanding and knowledge” from the experience, also added that patriotic training is very important.
