UK CONDEMNS IRAN LEADERSHIP –Britain has requested the Iranian ambassador to underline the gravity of the situation
Foreign minister Yvette Cooper today publicly condemned the Iranian leadership for what she described as the “horrendous and brutal killing” of protesters, saying Britain had summoned the Iranian ambassador to underline the gravity of the situation.
Iran reportedly acknowledged about 2,000 deaths during two weeks of nationwide protests over economic hardship, as the U.S. reportedly considers new tariffs.
Cooper told lawmakers Britain would bring forward legislation to implement full and further sanctions and sectoral measures against Iran.
France’s foreign minister also told lawmakers in parliament today that he had questioned the Iranian ambassador over the “unbearable and inhumane” crackdown by Iranian authorities to quell protests across the country.
