UK COUNTERTERROR POLICE JOIN PROBE – Seven injured after car hits pedestrians in Derby, counterterror officers assisting probe
Counter-terrorism police have joined an investigation after a car struck pedestrians in Derby, leaving seven people injured.
The incident happened on Friar Gate in the city centre, where victims were treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, along with several other serious driving offences, and remains in custody.
Derbyshire Constabulary says counter-terror officers are assisting as a precaution, but the incident is not currently being treated as terrorism.
Police believe this was an isolated incident and say there is no wider risk to the public.
