ZACK POLANSKI ELECTED AS GREEN PARTY LEADER
A former hypnotherapist has been elected as the new leader of the Green Party. Zack Polanski won the ballot of party members after seeing off a joint leadership bid from Adrian Ramsay and Ellie Chowns.
Mr Polanski secured an emphatic victory with 20,411 votes, while Ms Chowns and Mr Ramsay received 3,705.
Mr Polanski is a member of the London Assembly but not an MP, meaning that his election will trigger another vote to elect a leader of the four-strong Green bloc at Westminster.
Mr Polanski takes over as Green leader from Mr Ramsay and Carla Denyer, who had served as co-leaders since 2021.
The Green party is currently polling at an average of 9 per cent of the vote, up just over a point from its performance at the general election last year.
