GLOBAL AIRLINES BODY CUTS 2025 GLOBAL PROFIT FORECAST – Industry revenue estimate down 2.1%
Global airlines have cut their 2025 profit forecast to $36 billion, down from $36.6 billion, citing trade tensions, weaker consumer confidence, and delays in aircraft deliveries. The revised outlook was released by IATA at its annual meeting in New Delhi.
Rising costs, including from keeping older planes in service due to delivery delays, are straining the industry, though lower fuel prices offer some relief. Total expenses are expected to hit $913 billion, while cargo revenues are projected to fall 4.7% to $142 billion amid slowing global trade.
IATA also warned that manufacturers may pass on tariff costs, potentially raising fares, as the sector faces mounting pressure from protectionist policies and economic uncertainty.
