TRUMP RENEWS THREAT TO IRAN – US President warns nuclear-linked site could be targeted if talks fail
US President Donald Trump has again warned that the United States could strike one of Iran’s most heavily fortified nuclear-linked sites if the two countries fail to reach a new agreement.
In an interview, Mr Trump said Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain facility would have to be destroyed if negotiations break down. The underground complex, near the Natanz nuclear enrichment site in central Iran, is believed to be one of the country’s most secure strategic locations.
The renewed threat comes after reports citing Israeli intelligence suggested Iran may have moved advanced uranium-enrichment centrifuges into the facility. Tehran has denied the claims, insisting no nuclear activity is taking place there and accusing Washington of using the site as a pretext for military action.
Meanwhile, US Central Command says more than 20 American warships are now deployed across the Middle East in support of ongoing operations, including the enforcement of the US naval blockade again
