NATO MUST PREPARE FOR WAR WITH RUSSIA – UK defence minister warns alliance to be ready for conflict
The NATO alliance should be prepared for a war with Russia, British Defence Secretary Wes Streeting said.
Speaking on a visit to Warsaw, Streeting said NATO did not want a war, but that Russian assurances of the same could not be trusted and pointed to what he called “state-sponsored terrorism” against NATO members. Poland and other NATO states in Central and Eastern Europe have accused Russia of acts of sabotage and ‘hybrid warfare’ against them, claims Moscow denies.
The comments came as Streeting was in the Polish capital to sign a Poland–UK defence cooperation agreement. Speaking alongside Streeting, Warsaw’s Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said Poland will push for the UK to move closer to the European Union and to join EU defence initiatives
