US DENIES LEBANON IN CEASEFIRE DEAL – Vance says Iran misunderstood truce scope as tensions remain over Lebanon role
U.S. Vice President JD Vance says Iran may have misunderstood the scope of the recent ceasefire agreement with Washington.
Speaking in Budapest, Vance said Tehran believed the deal included Lebanon, but the United States had not agreed to that.
He clarified that the truce focuses on Iran and U.S. allies, including Israel and Gulf states, contradicting earlier claims from Pakistan’s leadership.
Vance added that Israel has indicated it may show restraint in Lebanon, in an effort to support ongoing negotiations.
The comments highlight continuing uncertainty over the terms of the ceasefire, as diplomatic efforts to stabilise the region remain fragile.
