The President of Loveword nation Pastor Chris Oyakhilome during the first session of the October Global Prayer & Fasting and Your Loveworld broadcast, addressed recent news surrounding Bill Gates.
He highlighted Gates’ call for a so-called “strategic pivot” in the global fight against climate change, urging world leaders to shift their focus from reducing emissions to addressing poverty and disease.
On his Gates Notes blog, the Microsoft co-founder criticised what he described as a “doomsday view” of climate change, saying too much emphasis is placed on near-term temperature targets.
Gates argued that while global warming will have serious consequences — particularly for poorer nations — it “will not lead to humanity’s demise.”
His remarks came a day after the United Nations announced that the world had missed its target of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned that this failure could have “devastating consequences.”
