CHINA PRESIDENT MEETS RUSSIA PM IN BEIJING-Xi says China and Russia are aiming for higher-level and higher-quality development goals 

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin today in Beijing, calling for enhanced cooperation on multiple fronts and better synergy of development strategies.

Xi, who said China and Russia are aiming for higher-level and higher-quality development goals, added that maintaining, consolidating and advancing bilateral relations is a strategic choice for both sides.

He also called on enhancing people-to-people exchanges and encouraging more people from all walks of life in both countries to participate in the cause of China-Russia friendship and cooperation.

Xi said China will advance Chinese modernisation on all fronts, unswervingly promote high-quality economic and social development and expand high-standard opening up.

China stands ready to work with Russia to promote better alignment between China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and Russia’s economic and social development strategies to constantly deliver benefits for the two countries.

Russia’s Prime Minister, President Putin, sent warm greetings and best wishes to President Xi, congratulating China on the successful convening of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and expressed confidence that China will achieve the goals set in the recommendations for the 15th Five-Year Plan smoothly and make greater achievements in economic and social development.
