CRITICAL MINERALS NOW U.S. PRIORITY – PRESIDENT hosts Central Asian leaders at White House
President Donald Trump says critical minerals are now a top U.S. priority — as he hosted leaders from five Central Asian nations at the White House on Thursday.
The meeting with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan comes as Washington tries to expand its influence in a resource-rich region long dominated by Russia — and increasingly courted by China.
Trump called Central Asia “an extremely wealthy region” — and says his administration has been signing new agreements to broaden U.S. critical mineral supply chains — securing materials like uranium, copper, gold and rare earths.
The talks were held under the C5+1 platform, launched in 2015 to boost cooperation on economic, energy, and security issues.
