King Charles hosted U.S. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania for a state banquet at Windsor Castle on Wednesday evening.
President Trump was earlier welcomed at the grounds of the castle by King Charles with a military parade and flypast. Lavishing praise on the UK, Trump said the bond of kinship between America and the United Kingdom was priceless and irreplaceable
Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was also at the banquet, is hoping to use that sentiment to Britain’s advantage as his government seeks to use the trip to cement the two nations’ “special relationship”, deepen economic ties, secure billions of dollars of investment, discuss tariffs and press Trump on Ukraine and Israel.
