OFCOM ACCUSED OF HIDING GB NEWS TRUST DATA – Critics accuse the media watchdog of deliberately suppressing evidence
Media regulator Ofcom faces accusations of a cover-up after omitting data showing GB News is more trusted by its viewers than the BBC. The watchdog’s latest news consumption survey revealed that GB News audiences rank the channel higher for trustworthiness than viewers of the BBC, Sky News, ITV, and Channel 4 score their respective networks.
Furthermore, GB News ranked first among all British broadcasters for its range of viewpoints and tied with Sky News for impartiality. While Ofcom has historically highlighted these audience metrics in its main press releases, the regulator completely omitted the figures from its initial publication last week.
The data only came to light after GB News requested the figures directly, forcing Ofcom to release them online. The omission has sparked severe backlash, with critics accusing the media watchdog of deliberately suppressing evidence of GB News’s surging popularity and viewer approval.
