PUTIN TO ARRIVE IN INDIA FOR STATE VISIT – Putin and Modi are expected to discuss geopolitics and potential defence deals

Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to arrive in India for a state visit commencing from today till the 5th of December. The trip would be the Russian president’s first visit to India since 2021.

Flags have been installed around New Delhi today, ahead of Putin’s visit for talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Heavy security was deployed around the capital’s presidential palace, ahead of Thursday’s meeting.

Putin and Modi are expected to discuss a range of issues during the two-day visit, with focus on geopolitics and potential defence deals, including fighter jets and a missile defence system.

For Modi, the trip reportedly presents a delicate balancing act as he faces mounting pressure from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump to scale back energy and economic ties with Moscow.
