REEVES AXES LUXURY CAR BRANDS FROM MOTABILITY – The Chancellor plans to implement sweeping changes this month

In the UK, Chancellor Rachel Reeves is preparing to overhaul the Motability scheme — in a move to curb welfare spending and block benefit claimants from accessing subsidised luxury cars.

Sources say the plan — set to be announced this month — will end access to premium brands like BMW, Audi and Mercedes… and scale back perks such as top-tier insurance and breakdown cover.

A Treasury insider says Reeves believes the scheme has “lost its focus” — and is now offering a motoring experience far beyond what ordinary working families can afford.

Under Motability, claimants on higher-rate disability benefits can put their weekly allowance towards a car — with insurance, servicing, breakdown assistance and road tax all included.
