RUSSIA QUESTIONS US/UK UKRAINE SUPPORT – Lavrov says Moscow has raised questions over the extent of Western backing for Ukraine
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says Moscow has never issued ultimatums to the United States over Washington’s support for Ukraine’s strikes on Russian territory.
In an interview published on Friday, Lavrov said Moscow had repeatedly asked the U.S. State Department to confirm reports that Washington was providing Ukraine with financing, weapons and intelligence, but had received no answers.
Meanwhile, Russia’s SVR intelligence chief Sergei Naryshkin said he held a working-level meeting with CIA director John Ratcliffe in Moscow earlier this week, discussing sensitive intelligence matters.
Assessing Britain’s role, Lavrov described it as “extremely negative”. Britain has agreed to give Kyiv access to classified technology to begin producing Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles.
Russia has warned it could strike British military targets inside and outside Ukraine in response to Ukrainian attacks using British missiles.
