TRUMP HONOURS SLAIN ACTIVIST KIRK – Charlie Kirk posthumously awarded medal of freedom
President Donald Trump has posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to slain christian activist Charlie Kirk, calling him a “fearless warrior for liberty.”
The ceremony took place at the White House Rose Garden, just weeks after Kirk’s assassination had shocked the nation.
Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University last month — a killing that reignited debate over political violence in America.
Trump praised Kirk as a beloved leader who inspired a generation, saying his legacy would “live on in the hearts of millions.”
Officials say there’s no evidence the suspect acted as part of any group.
Kirk was a polarising figure in U.S. politics — celebrated by supporters as a champion of free speech, and criticised by opponents for fueling division over social issues.
Trump also declared October 14th a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk, marking what would have been the activist’s 32nd birthday.
