TRUMP WARNS IRAN OF RETALIATION – President vows a forceful response after Iranian attacks leave nearly 100 U.S. troops injured
U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Iran that any attack on American forces will be met with a forceful military response.
In a post on social media, Mr Trump said every American soldier killed by Iran would be avenged “many times over”, adding that he had issued the directive to senior military leaders, including Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The warning comes after U.S. officials said nearly one hundred American service personnel have been injured in Iranian strikes across the Middle East this month. Two U.S. troops were killed in Jordan during a missile and drone attack, while another died in northern Iraq while attempting to defuse a downed Iranian drone.
The Pentagon says most of those injured suffered minor concussions, with the vast majority already returning to duty.
Despite the escalating conflict, Washington says it has not abandoned diplomacy. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said the administration remains open to a negotiated solution with Tehran.
