TYPHOON KROVANH TRIGGERS ALERT IN CHINA-Authorities ramped up emergency preparedness in east China’s Zhejiang Province
Typhoon Krovanh, the 24th typhoon of this year, has entered the 48-hour warning zone as authorities ramped up emergency preparedness in east China’s Zhejiang Province.
The Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration activated a Level-4 emergency response on Thursday. Maritime law enforcement in Taizhou City intensified patrols at sea, warning vessel crews to take timely precautionary measures against the approaching typhoon.
Authorities have urged shipping companies, ports, and waterborne construction units to closely monitor and analyze typhoon meteorological data. Tourists planning trips to offshore islands were advised to check ferry schedules and adjust their itineraries accordingly. Meanwhile, rescue hotline was set up in case of emergencies.
In Yuhuan, a county-level city under Taizhou’s administration, all 10 maritime passenger routes were fully suspended on Thursday, with all operating vessels returning to port and taking shelter at designated anchorage points, according to local authorities.
Concurrent measures included port lockdowns, facility reinforcement, and personnel evacuation. Visitors have been advised to cancel their island trips, and officials have cordoned off the terminal entrance with warning tape and reinforcing port facilities against strong winds.
