U.S RE-DEDICATED TO GOD – Crowds gather in Washington for Trump-backed national prayer event
Donald Trump appeared by video message at a major faith gathering in Washington on Sunday, as thousands attended a National Jubilee of Prayer marking America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
During the event on the National Mall, Trump read from the Bible passage 2 Chronicles 7, describing God’s message to King Solomon, as organisers called for a national rededication to faith and prayer.
The nine-hour programme, known as “Rededicate 250,” featured evangelical and conservative Catholic speakers, including Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance, who both linked America’s identity and values to Christianity.
House Speaker Mike Johnson led prayers on stage, while civil rights activist Dr. Alveda King spoke about the role of faith during the civil rights movement.
The event was organised through Freedom 250, a White House-backed partnership coordinating celebrations ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary, although critics argued the gathering blurred the line between church and state.
