U.S. SENATE VOTES TO END GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN – Paving way for ACA tax credit talks
In Washington, the US Senate has taken a major step toward ending the 40-day government shutdown.
On Sunday, November 9th — Senators voted 60 to 40 to advance a funding measure — clearing a key hurdle and setting up a path to reopen government through January 30.
The deal now heads back to the House of Representatives — and then on to President Trump — a process that could still take several days.
As part of the agreement, Republicans have agreed to hold a December vote on extending Affordable Care Act subsidies — a priority for Democrats — helping low-income Americans pay for private insurance.
This breakthrough could bring relief to millions of federal workers — and ease pressure on services from food aid to air travel — all severely disrupted by this shutdown.
But with ACA subsidies still a major fault line between parties, the final terms of this deal remain far from settled.
