UK TO ARM TROOPS AGAINST DRONES – Defence Minister unveils new powers to shoot down unidentified drones near UK bases

Britain is moving to give its troops new powers to shoot down unidentified drones threatening UK military bases.

Defence Minister John Healey announced on Monday, saying the move comes amid growing drone activity linked to Russia.

Healey told defence officials that “Last month, we saw 19 drones cross the Polish border, Russian jets violated Estonia’s airspace, and Moscow tried to subvert Moldova’s election.”

He said the new powers will be written into law through the upcoming Armed Forces Bill.

Healey also said the prime minister is prepared to consider deploying British troops to Ukraine if necessary — a move that could cost more than £100 billion.

Across Europe, drone incursions have caused major airspace disruptions, with airports forced to shut down and flights cancelled.

Russia has denied any involvement.
