WHITE HOUSE WARNS LAYOFFS ARE IMMINENT – VP says ‘Open up the people’s government’

The White House issued a grim warning today that government layoffs are imminent as the federal shutdown stretches into its second day. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that federal agencies are already preparing for cuts.

The warning signals a significant escalation in the crisis, moving beyond temporary furloughs to the very real threat of job losses for federal employees if a funding deal isn’t reached quickly.

Although Vice President JD Vance acknowledged the risk of escalation, he insisted no final decisions have been made, telling reporters, “We haven’t made any final decisions about what we’re going to do with certain workers.”

The pressure is mounting on Congress to find a resolution, as the shutdown’s impact begins to hit federal workers and critical services across the country.
