AMERICAN LAWYERS TAKE LEGAL AIM AT OFCOM – They are accusing the UK’s communications regulator of trying to police what Americans say online

U.S. legal teams are preparing a lawsuit against the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom, accusing it of trying to police what Americans say online.

The complaint, filed in Washington, D.C. by a prominent New York attorney on behalf of two U.S. internet companies, aims to block Ofcom from enforcing Britain’s new Online Safety Act on American soil.

The lawsuit claims Ofcom overstepped its authority by attempting to regulate platforms with no physical presence in the UK, a move that lawyers argue clashes directly with U.S. free speech protections.

This legal action follows a warning from Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who testified before the U.S. Congress that Britain is “at war with freedom” and urged the U.S. to resist these laws.
