RUBIO WARNS NATO TIES UNDER REVIEW – US signals rethink of NATO after Iran war as conflict enters critical phase

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Washington may reconsider its relationship with NATO following the war with Iran, citing frustration over limited support from European allies.

Speaking in a televised interview, Rubio suggested the alliance risks becoming a “one-way street,” after some countries refused access to military bases and airspace during the conflict.

The war, launched in late February by U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran, has since escalated across the region, driving up oil prices and destabilising global markets.

Rubio confirmed that indirect talks are ongoing with Tehran, with the possibility of direct negotiations in the future, even as fighting continues.

He also said the coming days will be decisive, citing intelligence that U.S. strikes are weakening Iranian forces, damaging morale and triggering desertions.

President Donald Trump has indicated the conflict could end within weeks, though no formal agreement is yet in place.

The developments point to a critical moment in the war, both on the battlefield and in the future of Western alliances.
