Britain will on Tuesday launch a government-backed loan scheme to help companies access finance as the economy reopens from a strict lockdown, offering maximum loans of 10 million pounds ($14 million). Finance minister Rishi Sunak said the loans, ranging from 25,001 pounds to 10 million, would replace existing COVID-19 programmes and be on top of a grant scheme that has been launched to help companies restart trading. The scheme will be administered by the British Business Bank, with loans available through commercial lenders and the government providing an 80% guarantee. It will run until the end of this year and…

With a record of over 5.3 billion participants from around the world, the phenomenal the clock prayer expedition which also marked the one year anniversary of the Global Day of Prayer with Pastor Chris was a monumental success. The 4 previous editions of the Global Day of Prayer, resulted in notable changes across the globe such as the opening of places of worship, lifting…
Everton are struggling to put the good back into Goodison Park and their troubles at home could cost them the chance of a venture abroad. A team with an outstanding away record now have only four points from a possible 18 on their own turf and an inability to beat bottom-half sides could deny them European football. “We have to make up the two points we lost here,” said Carlo Ancelotti, whose charges were on course go level with Liverpool and Tottenham and with a game in hand on each. Instead, Crystal Palace’s future is clearer. Michy Batshuayi scored an…
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday signed a law allowing him to potentially hold onto power until 2036, a move that formalizes constitutional changes endorsed in a vote last year. The July 1 constitutional vote included a provision that reset Putin’s previous term limits, allowing him to run for president two more times. The change was rubber-stamped by the Kremlin-controlled legislature and the relevant law signed by Putin was posted Monday on an official portal of legal information. The 68-year-old Russian president, who has been in power for more than two decades—longer than any other Kremlin leader since Soviet dictator Josef Stalin—said he…
“God’s truth protects you, God’s truth delivers you, God’s truth saves you” — Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. Glorious celebration across the globe ensued as the man of God, Reverend (Dr.) Chris Oyakhilome, announced April to be ‘the Month of Truth’ at the April Global Communion Service. “God is revealing His truth to you like never before and you are going to walk in truth,” Pastor Chris prophetically declared to the congregation. Canadian health authorities have issued a precautionary recall for masks containing graphene—a nanomaterial made up of a single layer of carbon atoms—citing the need to study health risks after a study in animals found the substance had “some potential” to cause lung toxicity. The recall, issued Friday by Health Canada, urges Canadians not to use masks that contain graphene or biomass graphene because of the potential for the tiny particles to be inhaled, which may pose a health risk. The advisory cites research showing that inhaled graphene particles “had some potential to cause early lung toxicity in animals” although it noted that the health risk…
Ambrose Bierce in The Devil’s Dictionary defined opportunity as a favourable time for grasping disappointment. When the panel convened by Twickenham to conduct a postmortem on England’s Six Nations campaign meets this month, there will be only one outcome if its mood is shaped by where England finished and the side’s overall level of performance: sayonara, Eddie Jones. Reacting in kneejerk fashion rarely yields anything more fruitful than a short-lived bounce, and not always then as Wales found out in the 1980s and 1990s. Listening to the Rugby Football Union’s Bill Sweeney and Conor O’Shea last week suggested there would be…
The Wisconsin Supreme Court on March 31 struck down Gov. Tony Evers’s statewide mask mandate, ruling the Democrat overstepped his legal authority by declaring multiple states of emergency amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “The question in this case is not whether the Governor acted wisely; it is whether he acted lawfully. We conclude he did not,” Justice Brian Hagedorn wrote in the opinion. Evers initially declared a state of emergency in March 2020. He declared additional states of emergency in July and September. Evers has since issued new states of emergency on an ongoing basis. Jeré Fabick of the Heartland Institute sued Evers over the second and…
British house prices growth slowed more than expected in March ahead of a previously planned end to a tax cut for buyers, mortgage lender Nationwide said on Wednesday. House prices fell by a monthly 0.2%, slowing the pace of their annual increase to 5.7% from 6.9% in March. A Reuters poll of economists had pointed to a 0.4% monthly increase and rise of 6.4% in annual terms. “Given that the wider economy and the labour market has performed better than expected in recent months, the slowdown in March probably reflects a softening of demand ahead of the original end of…
The United States on Tuesday joined more than a dozen other nations to express shared concerns about a World Health Organization (WHO) study into the origins of the CCP virus, pointing to the report’s delay and lack of access to crucial data. “Together, we support a transparent and independent analysis and evaluation, free from interference and undue influence, of the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic,” reads the statement signed by the governments of Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, South Korea, Slovenia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. “In this regard, we join in expressing shared concerns…
