HOME SECRETARY GRANTS POLICE BAN REQUEST- Mahmood says Al Quds March Ban is necessary measure to prevent serious public disorder

Home Secretary Shabanna Mahmood has approved the ban requested by the Metropolitan Police to ban the pro-Palestinian Al Quds march in London, based on the met police’s warnings anticipating the risk of a serious public disorder

The prior scheduled march garnered massive criticism due to its support for Iran, after its organisers expressly showed their alignment and approval of Iran’s late leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

The Met said the complexity of the current international scene and the severe risks implied indicated that mere conditions of a protest may be insufficient to prevent a resulting serious public disorder.

The force, which said in a statement that it would do everything to reduce violence and disorder, also added that it would place strict conditions on any static protest, which the law does not allow the police or government to ban.

Shabanna Mahmood expressed her satisfaction with the decision, further adding that it was a necessary measure to prevent public disorder, due to the scale of the protest and multiple counter-protests, considering the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
