NHS organisations across the country are braced for a possible recurrence of Friday’s cyberattack when staff return to work today. Cyber security experts have warned that the ransomware virus, which affected one in five NHS Trusts, could be reactivated by computers and devices that have not yet been switched on. On Sunday evening seven acute hospital Trusts continued to experience major disruption and were diverting patients away from A&E for a third consecutive day. The planned £11bn merger between Standard Life and Aberdeen Asset Management will result in 800 job cuts, it has been disclosed. Standard Life set out the numbers in a prospectus for the the tie-up between the Scottish-based companies, two of the UK’s biggest fund managers – plans for which were first revealed by Sky News in March. The UK’s mobile 4G access varies wildly across the UK, with some of the biggest cities having the worst connections. Middlesbrough was the best city for 4G access with 83% availability and Bournemouth was the worst at just 68%, according to a report comparing 20 of the largest cities. London managed just 16th, above Nottingham, Cardiff, Southampton and Bournemouth. Glasgow and Edinburgh were 9th and 10th respectively.
