BIBLE ENGAGEMENT ON THE RISE AMONG NON-CHRISTIAN STUDENTS – New study shows university students interact with the Bible more often than previously assumed

A new study has revealed that non-Christian university students in the UK are interacting with the Bible more often than previously assumed.

The survey, conducted by Savanta for the Fusion student movement, polled over 2,000 students from 186 universities. It found that 12% of students who do not identify as Christian are reading the Bible at least once a week. This figure includes even brief encounters, such as coming across a Bible verse on social media.

The study also showed that nearly half of all university students in Britain consider the Bible relevant to life today. Similarly, 44% believe it to be a credible and trustworthy text.

Fusion, a Christian organisation focused on connecting students with the Bible, expressed surprise at the findings. “We were massively surprised by the results,” a spokesperson said, adding that, “the potential opportunity for spiritual transformation offered by greater engagement with the Bible is huge”.
