BURNHAM ZELENSKY MEETING – Britain’s Burnham holds meeting with Zelensky in Kyiv on first foreign trip
Prime Minister Andy Burnham met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Kyiv on Monday (August 24) during his first overseas visit since taking office, reaffirming Britain’s support for Ukraine on the country’s Independence Day.
Burnham told Zelenskiy there would be “no change in Britain’s support” and said “we will not be here today, gone tomorrow.”
The visit came as Britain and France pledged stronger military backing for Ukraine, including access to classified technology to enable domestic production of Storm Shadow cruise missiles and faster deliveries of air defence missiles.
Zelenskiy thanked Britain for its continued support throughout more than four years of war with Russia.
