ISRAEL PREVENTS ENTRY TO UK MPsUnder Claims Of Anti-Israel Activities

The Israel Embassy has stated that Israel has the duty to prevent the entry of individuals whose presence in the country is intended to cause harm to the state and its citizens.

The Embassy said in a statement that two members of the British Parliament, in accordance with Israeli law, were denied entry into Israel by the Minister of Interior of Israel. The embassy added that the British MPs in question had accused Israel of false claims, were actively involved in promoting sanctions against Israeli ministers, and supported campaigns aimed at boycotting the State of Israel.

Israel has stated that it will not allow the entry of individuals or entities that act against the state and its citizens, promote calls for its boycott, accuse it with false allegations, or call for sanctions against ministers and elected officials.

The Israeli Embassy added that the two UK MPs chose not to petition the court to reconsider the decision and declined the offer of hotel accommodation, The Israeli Embassy has also stated that it covered the cost of the UK return flight for the rejected MPs.

UK Foreign Minister David Lammy, who protested against the action in a statement on social media, also stated that he is in contact with both MPs to offer support.

The Israeli Embassy stated that the sovereign state has both the authority and the duty to prevent the entry of individuals whose presence in the country is intended to cause harm to its citizens — just as such authority exists in the United Kingdom.”
