MACRON SAYS G7 SUMMIT WAS A SUCCESS – Macron also said an agreement between the United States and Iran had been signed
French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday (June 18) said a Group of Seven summit this week had been “a success” and showed unity behind Ukraine.
Macron also said an agreement between the United States and Iran had been signed at Versailles, which he described as a step toward ending conflict and restoring peace, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without tolls during a 60-day negotiating period covering nuclear, ballistic and regional issues.
On Ukraine, Macron said the G7 had been unified in backing Kyiv, with support aimed at helping it resist and defend its independence. Asked whether he would call Russian President Vladimir Putin, Macron said it was up to Putin to signal readiness to return to negotiations “not under conditions that are unacceptable.”
