REPUBLICANS SET SIGHTS ON RUSSIA – Republicans drafting bill to sanction countries that trade with Russia
President Donald Trump said that Republicans are working on legislation that will impose sanctions on any country doing business with Russia, and he said Iran may get added to that list.
“As you know, I suggested it, so any country that does business with Russia will be very severely sanctioned,” Trump told reporters. “They may add Iran to that,” he added.
Some U.S. senators are renewing a push to get a long-stalled bipartisan sanctions bill to Trump’s desk. The bill would slap tariffs on countries that buy Russian oil and gas and impose sanctions on international firms that do business with Russia’s energy sector.
