TRUMP HEADS TO CHINA FOR TALKS – Trade, Iran war and Taiwan on agenda
Donald Trump is travelling to Beijing for a high-stakes summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where trade, the Iran conflict and Taiwan are expected to dominate talks.
Speaking ahead of departure, Trump said he would urge China to “open up” its economy to American companies, describing the visit as an opportunity for deeper commercial cooperation.
The trip comes with major business figures accompanying the president, including Nvidia chief Jensen Huang, Tesla’s Elon Musk, and Apple CEO Tim Cook, reflecting a strong focus on economic ties.
But the agenda is also set to include geopolitical tensions, with Trump saying he expects a “long talk” with Xi about the Iran war and wider regional instability.
The visit marks the first by a US president to China in nearly a decade and is expected to include high-level meetings, a state banquet and formal diplomatic events in Beijing.
