DEPUTY PM RAYNER ADMITS UNDERPAID PROPERTY TAX-Rayner has been under scrutiny for days over her purchase of a flat in Hove

British deputy prime minister Angela Rayner said on Wednesday (September 3) she would refer herself to the ministerial standards watchdog after admitting she had underpaid the amount of tax on a property she purchased in southern England.

Rayner, who is also Britain’s housing minister, has been under scrutiny for days over her purchase of a flat in Hove near the southern English seaside resort of Brighton, and whether she deliberately avoided paying the correct rate of tax.

In an interview, Rayner said she had considered resigning over the issue and has now contacted Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to say that there is additional property tax to be paid on the property.
