DISPOSABLE VAPE BAN TO STARTED OVER THE WEEKEND – To address both environmental concerns and the rising issue of youth vaping addiction

The ban on selling or supplying disposable vapes, announced in January last year, applies both in shops and online, is starting this weekend.

Vapes have skyrocketed in popularity in recent years, with usage growing by more than 400% between 2012 and 2023, according to the government. But why is the government cracking down on disposable ones?

The UK government is cracking down on disposable vapes to address both environmental concerns and the rising issue of youth vaping.

The ban aims to reduce plastic waste, minimise the risk of fires from discarded lithium-ion batteries, and deter children from vaping due to their appeal and increased use.

The nicotine (deliberately added to make the product addictive) is added to “child-friendly, Bubble Gum Flavoured Vapes and packaged in child-friendly colours.

Coupled with the detrimental effects on children’s cognitive skills, the Government have finally bowed to pressure to ban them.
