EE TO LAUNCH MONITORED ‘SAFER SIMS FOR TEENS’ –  Monitored SIM-only plans for mobile phones will start from £7 per month in August

EE today announced its new plans for monitored SIM-only plans for mobile phones, which it says will restrict the internet for teens  The plan which is launching next month, will reportedly be available on all smartphones. The three 30-day SIM-only plans, are tiered with different levels of controls and will start from £7 per month

EE which says it is the UK’s first major network provider to unveil a range of under-18s smartphone plans, in-store appointments offering online safety support, and new digital resources to guide parents ahead of the next school year.

However, EE has stated that the controlled monitoring can only regulate what is accessed by using the EE mobile network data, inferring that it cannot filter content accessed via wi-fi, which operates separately.

EE said the move follows the smartphone age guidance for parents which EE announced last year, and forms part of EE’s ongoing commitment to being the UK’s best network for families.
