FREE SIM CARDS GIVEN TO CHANNEL MIGRANTS – Vodafone has given 2,500 SIM cards, loaded with six months of free data, to migrants

Reform UK has accused Vodafone of “facilitating the invasion of Britain” after it emerged that the company supplied free SIM cards that were given to Channel migrants.

The telecoms giant has given 2,500 SIM cards, loaded with six months of free data, to Care4Calais, a refugee charity, for use by migrants who arrived in the UK on small boats.

Care4Calais’s annual report shows the charity distributed the majority of the SIM cards to occupants of the Wethersfield migrant camp in Essex, which is used to house asylum seekers.

Zia Yusuf, Reform’s home affairs spokesman, has written to Vodafone urging the company to stop providing SIM cards to Channel migrants, arguing that customers “will be shocked to hear that their phone or broadband provider is actively endangering British women and girls”.

Mr Yusuf claimed SIM cards had been handed out to migrants preparing to cross the Channel in small boats from the beaches of northern France, but representatives of Vodafone and Care4Calais said they had only been used in the UK.
