Luis Suarez scored twice from the penalty spot, including a dramatic 89th-minute winner, as Inter Miami beat Tigres UANL 2-1 in the Leagues Cup quarterfinals in Fort Lauderdale.
Despite missing Lionel Messi and seeing manager Javier Mascherano sent off at halftime, Miami reached their second Leagues Cup semifinal in three years.
Suarez’s late penalty came after a handball review, while Tigres’ Angel Correa had briefly equalised in the 67th minute. Ivan Lopez nearly levelled again in stoppage time, hitting both posts.
Miami will face Orlando City in next week’s semifinal.
