ITALY CUTS OFF PUBERTY BLOCKERS FOR MINORS-The government says it is needed to protect the health of minors

Italy has cut off access to puberty blockers for minors, according to a draft law approved by the government

The measure, which has been passed by the cabinet and is subject to parliamentary approval, regulates medicines such as puberty blockers and feminising or masculinising hormones for those under the age of 18.

The government said in a statement that it was needed to protect the health of minors and introduce effective data monitoring. The new bill states that gender-affirming medicines will only be dispensed following protocols approved by the health ministry, and pending that, after approval by a national ethics committee of paediatricians.
