TRUMP HALTS U.S. FUNDING TO UN POPULATION CONTROL PROGRAM – Over 40 projects promoting abortion, sterilization & contraceptive use received termination notices
In a move that fulfills a key campaign promise, President Donald Trump in March officially ordered an end to U.S. funding for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the UN’s main agency linked to population control efforts – predominantly through abortions.
The defunding process since there has now concluded. More than 40 projects that promote abortion, sterilization, and widespread contraceptive use have received termination notices—cutting off approximately $335 million in funding and potentially preserving the lives of countless unborn children.
Under Trump’s directive, the UNFPA—widely criticized for its involvement in coercive population control programs worldwide—will receive no U.S. aid for the remainder of his administration.
This latest action echoes President Trump’s stance during his first term, when he similarly cut off U.S. funding to the UNFPA over concerns that it pushed aggressive, China-style family planning measures in African nations.
By following through with the funding freeze, Trump has reaffirmed his commitment to pro-life values and opposition to international programs that undermine the sanctity of life.
