TRUMP TO ANNOUNCE NEW FED MEMBER – A new candidate to fill an open position at the Federal Reserve
U.S. President Donald Trump said he would announce a candidate to fill an open position at the Federal Reserve in the next couple of days.
The Fed announced on Friday (August 1) that Governor Adriana Kugler was resigning from her term early, creating an opening for Trump, a sharp critic of the U.S. central bank’s leadership, to fill.
Trump also said he would announce a new head of the Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS) within three or four days. He fired BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer after accusing her of faking job numbers, without providing any evidence of data manipulation.
Trump also stated that Americans could receive a dividend or distribution of money as a result of tariffs being imposed on U.S. trading partners.
