U.S. SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS TRUMP’S TRANSGENDER MILITARY BAN-The court’s decision had a 6-3 majority.
The U.S. Supreme Court upheld President Donald Trump’s ban on transgender people in the military, allowing the armed forces to discharge transgender personnel and ban transgender recruits.
The court lifted a federal judge’s nationwide order blocking the military from carrying out Trump’s prohibition on transgender service members, at the request of the Justice Department’s request and the court’s decision had a 6-3 majority.
Trump signed an executive order in January after returning to the presidency.
The executive order would require the Defense Department to update its guidance regarding “trans-identifying medical standards for military service” and to “rescind guidance inconsistent with military readiness.”
